The Black Entrepreneurship Program (BEP) is a collaboration between the Government of Canada, the country’s black-led business organizations, and its many financial institutions. With an investment of up to $221 million over four years, it will help Black Canadian business owners and entrepreneurs grow their businesses and succeed now and in the future. EP is hosting a Fireside with an Expert Panel on the new Black Entrepreneurship Program (BEP) announced by the Prime Minister of Canada to support Black Canadian Entrepreneurs on May 15th, 2021. The discussion will cover the following three Components: The National Ecosystem Fund will support not-for-profit Black-led business organizations across the country in their capacity to provide support, mentorship, financial planning, and business training for Black entrepreneurs. The Black Entrepreneurship Loan Fund is a partnership between the Government, Black-led business organizations, and several financial institutions. It will provide loans up to $250,000 to Black business owners and entrepreneurs across the country. The Black Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub will conduct research on Black entrepreneurship in Canada. It will help identify barriers to success and opportunities for growth. The Hub will be led by not-for-profit Black-led community and business organizations in partnership with educational institutions. " EP Funds provides a Platform that features various funding opportunities from the government and private sectors. funding comes by way of grants and loans. EP Academy invites bank reps to the Finance your startup seminar to discuss their funding products and connect you with available resources. These classes and seminars connect you with industry experts that offer helpful details on funding opportunities that are available or have become available to entrepreneurs; the application process, the requirements and various other crucial details required by an entrepreneur that wants to acquire funding for their business. The Ontario government has launched funding options to support small businesses that are struggling during the unpredictable times of COVID-19 restrictions and lockdowns. Entrepreneur's point has put together the following data on Ontario's COVID fund relief with relevant links to help entrepreneurs and other start-ups find support during these trying times. Ontario’s Digital Main Street Grant: The Digital Transformation training and guidance provides the opportunity for main street businesses to apply for a grant of up to $2,500 to help their business launch and expand online by supporting small business e-commerce growth. Ontario’s Starter Company Plus Program: This program includes funding of up to $5,000, one-on-one advice from a small business advisor and 6 biweekly coaching sessions for businesses that are in their first 5 years of business. The program is accessed through the province’s 47 Small Business COVID-19 Recovery Network locations.
